SPUC White Flower Collection – This Weekend

Webmaster • January 11, 2025

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) are holding its annual White Flower Collection this weekend. Please be as generous as you can to help the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, to defend unborn babies and their mothers. The success of the White Flower Collection is founded on the compassion and generosity of faithful churchgoers in parishes across the United Kingdom. SPUC is grateful for the unapologetic defence of unborn babies and vulnerable people that the teaching of the Catholic Church provides. At St. Teilo’s you are able to make a donation using your credit/debit card at the Electronic Donation Station.

On the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time the Church throughout the world celebrates the Sunday of the Word of God. Pope Francis has chosen as the theme for this day the words of the Psalmist, “I hope in your Word” (Ps. 119:74), thus linking today’s celebration of the Word of God with the theme of the Jubilee Year – Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis says: “A jubilee that knocks on the door every 25 years and prompts us to take life seriously, offers the opportunity to keep our eyes fixed on the hope that evangelical realism brings. The Sunday of the Word of God once again allows Christians to reinvigorate Jesus' tenacious invitation to listen to and cherish his Word in order to offer the world a witness of hope that allows one to move beyond the difficulties of the present moment. The Word of God is not confined to a book, but remains ever alive and becomes a concrete and tangible sign. In fact, it challenges every community not only to proclaim the same faith as always, but above all to communicate it with the conviction that it brings hope to those who listen to it and welcome it with a simple heart.” Further reflections on the Sunday of the Word of God can be found at the God Who Speaks website - https://www.godwhospeaks.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SoWoG-Liturgy-Pastoral-Guide.pdf

St Teilo's Parish celebrates its centenary this year. The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) has established a Celebrations Co-ordinating Team to suggest and help arrange possible events to take place during 2025 to celebrate this momentous year. We should like input from parishioners, therefore Leigh Jenkins, Chair of the PPC will speak to us at the end of each Mass this weekend about the input process. A short questionnaire listing possible events will be available for completion at the end of each Mass and members of the team will be available for distribution and collection. We look forward to your input.
