Clothes donations for the SVP

Clothes donations for the SVP The Parish St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) Conference undertakes a monthly collection of clothing for the SVP Charity Shop. Clean, good quality clothing, books and toys are welcome. Donations may be left outside the confessionals at the rear of St. Teilo’s next weekend, May 12th , and on the weekend of the Second Sunday of each month. Please ensure that donations are brought to the Church only on the specified Sundays, as we do not want the Church to become cluttered during the week. Thank you from the parish SVP.

Ascension Thursday – Holyday of Obligation

Thursday is the great solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord into heaven. It is a Holyday of Obligation on which all Catholics are expected to attend Mass. Masses will be at 10am at St. Teilo’s and at 6pm at Our Lady of Lourdes on Thursday.

Belmont Abbey Torchlight Procession in Honour of Our Lady

The Annual Torchlight Procession in honour of Our Lady at Belmont Abbey will take place on Wednesday, May 15th at 9:00pm. This year, the guest preacher will be Fr. Royston Price CSsR. As we did last year, we will share travel with St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Family Parish. The pickup from St. Teilo's will be from outside the Church at 6.00pm. If you would like to attend, please sign the sheet which is at the back of the Church as soon as possible.

First Holy Communion Mass - next Sunday 10am

The children of the parish are continuing their preparation for First Holy Communion which takes place next Sunday, May 12th at the 10am Mass. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament for the first time. The children’s names are Bernardo, Elisha, Elliot, Felicity, Hanna, Katie, Luca, Marcus, Matilda, Osian, Raffaela, Rhys and Ruby-Rose. Priest Training Fund Collection – – Cardiff Bay 10k Sponsored Event

This year, a group from the Archdiocese will be taking part in the Cardiff Bay 10k and raising money for the Priest Training Fund. The event will be taking place on May 19th – Pentecost Sunday and the group is taking the collective name: ‘Follow the Flame’. Liam Kelly, from our parish, has agreed to be part of this group and he will be asking you for sponsorship. You can sponsor Liam by completing the sponsor form at the back of both churches or through the GoodHub online donation site - https://app.goodhub.com/prieststrainingfund-liam

The confirmandi are undertaking preparation for their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, July 7th . Please keep the candidates in your prayers as they experience in a new way, the coming of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Today as we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday and the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, there will be a second collection for the Archdiocesan Priest Training Fund. In addition to your prayers for vocations, we ask you to support the Priest Training Fund for which there will be a second collection at all Masses this weekend. The Archdiocese invests around £189,000 on the formation of each seminarian over a period of seven years.  Every donation to support this work makes a difference. We have one seminarian who is to be ordained a priest later this year and another who is beginning formation in September. Those who pay tax can gift-aid their donation to the Priests’ Training Fund by completing the information on the envelopes provided. Alternatively, you can donate online at www.rcadc.org/priesttraining-fund or send a cheque to Priests’ Training Fund, Archbishop’s House, 41/43 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9HD.

First Saturday Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Next Saturday, May 4th , is the first Saturday of May. We will therefore celebrate the First Saturday devotions after the 10am Mass. May is the month of Our Lady, so it is a very special time to take part in these devotions if you have not done so before. There will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during the devotions and confessions will be available.

Thanks – Holy Week and Easter Liturgies

Canon John would like to thank all those who did so much to make the Holy Week and Easter celebrations a great occasion celebrating our faith. He is especially grateful for the generous Easter Offerings which he received. Many, many, thanks! There are so many people who worked behind the scenes to make the ceremonies a fitting occasion, those who prepared, cleaned and decorated the Sanctuary as well as those who were more visible including the altar servers, readers, musicians and welcomers who made the celebrations possible. A big thank you to you all!  Canon John would also like to thank all the parishioners who came along to take part in the celebrations. May the blessing and joy of Easter be with us all through the rest of this blessed season.

Parish Physical Activity Programme

The indoor physical activity session takes place on Tuesday in the Hall at St. Teilo’s at 10:45am, following Mass. The Couch to 5K sessions continues on Wednesday, meeting at 5:30pm in St. Teilo’s car park.

Listening Process on Unification of the Dioceses – Cardiff Deanery – Wednesday, May 15th

Following the Archbishop’s pastoral letter on December 17th, a listening process is taking place this year to discuss the possible unification of the Dioceses of Cardiff and Menevia. The Listening Process has been taking place since February and the next opportunity for parishioners to engage with the process is coming up shortly. The St. David’s (Cardiff) Deanery has its listening meeting for all parishioners in the deanery on Wednesday, May 15th at 5pm at the Cornerstone, Charles Street, Cardiff.  All are welcome, indeed encouraged, to attend.
