Repairs and Redecorations at St. Teilo’s

The Archdiocesan Trustees have supported Canon John and the Parish Finance Committee in their proposal to undertake repair and enhancement works at St. Teilo’s.


Approval has been received for four projects which will be undertaken over the next few months:

a) Repairs and redecoration of the external concrete walls which are suffering from steel reinforcement failure,

b) Creation of a ladder and safety walkway access system to enable access to the Church roof for repairs and maintenance

c) New Lighting for the Church

and

d) Internal Redecoration of the Church and Parish Hall


These are the first major works in the Church since the re-ordering of the Sanctuary and addition of the Parish Hall which took place 18 years ago. Over coming weeks we will explore fundraising approaches to cover the costs of these works.


Please note: Due to the works and Canon’s holiday St. Teilo’s will be closed on weekdays from August Bank Holiday until the end of September. There will be no weekday Masses in the Parish during this time. Weekend Masses will continue as usual.


Car Parking at St. Teilo’s on Sunday

Due to the scaffolding now in place, it will not be possible to use the Church Car Park at St. Teilo’s. If you do need to bring a car to Church, please make use of the public car parks behind Victoria Road (access off Penlline Road) or behind the shops on Merthyr Road. 

Baptism Preparation Course

Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at Christ the King, Llanishen, on Saturday, July 4 th and completes on Saturday, July 11 th. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. Congratulations to Mel

Congratulations to Mel on his successful walk to the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada Earlier in the year, we appealed in the newsletter for support for Mel Hopkins, one of our parishioners, who was raising funds for Velindre Cancer Care by walking to the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada mountains in the Granada region of Spain. Mel successfully completed the walk last Sunday. It is not too late to support Mel with a donation to this cause – just click on his Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/mel-hopkins-1.

Reaching Out Volunteer Evening

The Reaching Out Project team is hosting a celebration evening for all Reaching Out Volunteers on Friday in St. Teilo’s Hall at 7pm, following the 6.30pm Mass. The team would like to thank all the parishioners for their generous contribution to the work of Reaching Out and to ask for continued support and prayer for the project as it continues to show the parish’s outreach to those who are in great need.

Mass on Tuesday

Please note that Mass at St. Teilo’s on Tuesday morning will be at the earlier time of 9am. This is due to an Archdiocesan Meeting of the Clergy with the Catholic Christian Outreach Mission team in Aberafan which begins at 10.30am that day.

Youth Pilgrimage to the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady

On Saturday, July 18th there will be an Archdiocesan Pilgrimage for young people in Years 8 to 13 to Our Lady of the Taper, Cardigan - the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady. The cost is £15 per person.

Coffee and Tea after Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes

First Saturday Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Saturday, July 4th, is the first Saturday of July. We will therefore celebrate the First Saturday devotions after the 10am Mass.
