St. Teilo's with Our Lady of Lourdes St. Vincent De Paul Conference – An Appeal For New Members

Suzie Rees, Membership Support Officer for the SVP, is to make an appeal for new members at all Masses on the weekend of April 27th and 28th . Interested parishioners will then be invited to a meeting in the parish hall at 7pm on Wednesday, May 1st , at 7.00pm for more information.

Missio Red Box 2023

In 2023, St. Teilo's with Our Lady of Lourdes raised £1,902.67 through our Red Boxes and donations to Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries. Thank you! Our missionary community here at our parish is part of a worldwide network of people supporting missionaries overseas through prayer and financial assistance. Your support of Missionary Priests, like Fr. Ignatius MHM who works with a rural community in Uganda, enables people to come together to celebrate the Eucharist and to work together to improve the lives of the whole community. Funeral Mass of Bernadette Evans

On Wednesday at 1.30pm at St. Teilo’s, many of us will gather to pray for the repose of the soul of one of our faithful parishioners, Bernadette Evans. Bernadette has been an active member of the parish for many years and a key member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many of them. Please also remember her husband, Paul, in your prayers.

Sacrament of Confirmation

The confirmandi are undertaking preparation for their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, July 7th . Please keep the candidates in your prayers as they experience in a new way, the coming of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The confirmandi’s names are Amelia, Anne, Bianca, Charles, Daniela, Frank, Gabe, Joshua, Laurie, Madalena and Tommy.

Cardiff Bay 10k Sponsored Event

This year, a group from the Archdiocese will be taking part in the Cardiff Bay 10k and raising money for the Priest Training Fund. The event will be taking place on May 19th – Pentecost Sunday and the group is taking the collective name: ‘Follow the Flame’. Liam Kelly, from our parish, has agreed to be part of this group and he, and any other volunteers, will be asking you for sponsorship in the next few weeks. If you are interested in taking part in ‘Follow the Flame’, please let Canon know.

Priest Training Fund Collection – Vocations – Next weekend

Today as we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday and the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, there will be a second collection for the Archdiocesan Priest Training Fund. In addition to your prayers for vocations, we ask you to support the Priest Training Fund for which there will be a second collection at all Masses this weekend. The Archdiocese invests around £189,000 on the formation of each seminarian over a period of seven years.  Every donation to support this work makes a difference. We have one seminarian who is to be ordained a priest later this year and another who is beginning formation in September. Those who pay tax can gift-aid their donation to the Priests’ Training Fund by completing the information on the envelopes provided. Alternatively, you can donate online at www.rcadc.org/priesttraining-fund or send a cheque to Priests’ Training Fund, Archbishop’s House, 41/43 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9HD.

The children of the parish are continuing their preparation for First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 12th. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament for the first time. Thanks – Holy Week and Easter Liturgies

Canon John would like to thank all those who did so much to make the Holy Week and Easter celebrations a great occasion celebrating our faith. He is especially grateful for the generous Easter Offerings which he received. Many, many, thanks! There are so many people who worked behind the scenes to make the ceremonies a fitting occasion, those who prepared, cleaned and decorated the Sanctuary as well as those who were more visible including the altar servers, readers, musicians and welcomers who made the celebrations possible. A big thank you to you all!  Canon John would also like to thank all the parishioners who came along to take part in the celebrations. May the blessing and joy of Easter be with us all through the rest of this blessed season.

Clothes donations for the SVP

Clothes donations for the SVP The Parish St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) Conference undertakes a monthly collection of clothing for the SVP Charity Shop. Clean, good quality clothing, books and toys are very welcome. Donations may be left outside the confessionals at the rear of St. Teilo’s this weekend (14th April) . The clothes will be removed early on Monday morning, so please ensure that donations are brought to the Church by the end of the evening Mass this weekend or kept at home until the Second Sunday of May when we will have another collection. Thank you from the parish SVP.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

Welcome to Samuel

At the Easter Vigil, we welcomed Samuel MacDonald into the Church through Baptism. We pray that he may be enriched by his new life as a Christian and a member of our parish community. We pray too, that all of us will be renewed in our Baptismal Faith in this Holy Season. We had a wonderful gathering in the Parish Hall after the Easter Vigil, here are some photos of the event:

Parish Physical Activity Programme

The indoor physical activity session takes place on Tuesday in the Hall at St. Teilo’s at 10:45am, following Mass. The Couch to 5K sessions continues on Wednesday, meeting at 5:30pm in St. Teilo’s car park.

The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima and the Relics of St. Francisco and St. Jacinta will visit St Teilo's with Our Lady of Lourdes on the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of April. Please put the event in your diaries now. The timetable is as follows: Mass Next Saturday Please note that there will be no 10am Mass next Saturday morning, rather Mass will be celebrated at 1.30pm as we welcome the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, see below for full timings. Baptism Preparation Course

The next Baptism Course takes place at St. Teilo’s Hall on Wednesday, May 15th and completes on Wednesday, November 22nd at 7pm. Both sessions will last around an hour.
