The Feast Days of St. Teilo and Our Lady of Lourdes

The Feast Days of both St. Teilo and Our Lady of Lourdes occur this week, with both of these Feast Days celebrated in our parish.

The Patronal Feast of St. Teilo will be celebrated with Solemn Mass and hymns on Friday 9th February at 7.00pm at St. Teilo’s, the Feast Day of St. Teilo.

We will also have a small celebration with cheese and wine in the Church Hall afterwards.

Mass in honour of St. Teilo, celebrated in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, will take place at the beautiful 13th century St. Teilo’s Church at the National History Museum, St. Fagan’s at 11.00am.

Please note that to allow those who may wish to go to St. Fagan’s enough time, Mass on Saturday 10th February at St. Teilo’s, Whitchurch will be at 9.00am. There will be no Confessions following Mass.

11th February is usually celebrated as the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Every year, 11th February is marked as World Day of the Sick, an observation that was introduced by St. Pope John Paul II, and celebrated for the first time twenty-four years ago on 11th February 1993.

It is celebrated every year on the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes, and for all believers seeks to be “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering.” (From St. John Paul II’s message for World Day of the Sick in 1993.)

The 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 10th February at Our Lady of Lourdes we will celebrate this Solemnity. The preacher will be Fr. Sebastian from the Cardiff Oratory and the members of the Oratory will join us for Mass. Mass will include a procession of the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. At the back of both churches this weekend is a sheet for you to write the names of those you would like us to pray for at the Mass next Saturday.
