Madeleine Walters
Member of the Parish Council
I have been a parishioner at St. Teilo’s since the 1980s. I am married to Rhodri Walters and have four children and five grandchildren. I retired from teaching in 2011, having been Head of Modem Foreign Languages and in my later years, Assistant Head.
I was first elected to the PAC in the 1990s and have been actively involved in parish matters since them. I have been Chair of the Parish Advisory Council for a number of years, not a role I have sought but one I have been repeatedly encouraged to take on. I have been Chair through some important events in the life of the Parish, including the amalgamation of the two parishes, the refurbishment of St. Teilo’s, Canon Eddie’s Silver Jubilee and his retirement and the 50th Anniversary of St. Teilo’s Church. I am a Eucharistic Minister and a Reader. In addition I am often called upon to train new Eucharistic Ministers and Readers.
I am Director of Evangelisation for the Archdiocese of Cardiff and Chair of the Diocesan Evangelisation Commission. I am also Chair of the Cornerstone Planning Group, a group which seeks to use the Cornerstone for evangelising purposes. I attended the Proclaim’15 Event in Birmingham in July 2015, helped to organised the Cardiff Proclaim’15 Event in October 2015. I was an active member of the team that organised the Holy Door Events in September 2016 and helped organise Cardiff Proclaim ’17 in October 2017. I was also one of the parish representatives at the Adoremus Eucharistic Congress and Pilgrimage in September 2018.
