There are different Ministries that people can volunteer to assist with at
Sunday Mass and other liturgical celebrations throughout the year, all of which help to ensure that the Mass is celebrated as a prayerful and respectful celebration.
Greeters are probably the first people you will meet as you enter the church. They welcome people to the Mass, assist visitors who may be unfamiliar with the surroundings and provide Mass sheets and newsletters to people as they enter the church.
Ministers of the Word
Hearing the Word of God is an important part of our celebrations and several readers at each Mass will come forward to proclaim the First Reading and Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading and Bidding Prayers. Training and occasional days of reflection are held for those who participate in this Ministry.
Those involved in this Ministry will take the collection during the Offertory Procession and will take any special collection following Holy Communion.
Those who participate in the Offertory Procession bring forward the gifts of bread and wine and the collection offerings.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Eucharistic Ministers assist the celebrant of the Mass with the distribution of both the Precious Body and Blood of Saviour at Mass. They also take Holy Communion to people who are elderly, sick, disabled and others who are unable to attend Mass. Training and occasional days of reflection are held for those who participate in this Ministry.
