The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls)

Grandparents’ Week

This weekend sees the start of Grandparents’ Week, October 21st – 28th 2018. To celebrate the generous commitment of the grandparents in our parish we will have Coffee after Mass.

At each Mass this weekend we will invite God’s blessing on all the grandparents of our parish by praying the Prayer for Grandparents composed by Pope Benedict XVI:

Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary,

the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne.

Look with love on grandparents the world over.

Protect them! They are a source of enrichment

for families, for the Church and for all of society.

Support them! As they grow older,

may they continue to be for their families

strong pillars of Gospel faith,

guardians of noble domestic ideals,

living treasuries of sound religious traditions.

Make them teachers of wisdom and courage,

that they may pass on to future generations the fruits

of their mature human and spiritual experience.

Lord Jesus, help families and society

to value the presence and roles of grandparents.

May they never be ignored or excluded,

but always encounter respect and love.

Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed

in all the years of life which you give them.

Mary, Mother of all the living,

keep grandparents constantly in your care,

accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage,

and by your prayers, grant that all families

may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland,

where you await all humanity for the great

embrace of life without end. Amen.

Canon Isaac Returns

Canon Isaac returned to the parish on Thursday and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who prayed for him during his operations.  Canon says:

I was bolstered by the prayers of so many generous people and by the best wishes expressed in the large number of get-well cards and messages. Thanks be to God, the operations were successful and I can now see more clearly through my ‘bionic’ eyes than I have ever done before the new lenses were fitted.

We welcome Canon back and wish him all the best as he returns to his pastoral care for us all.

October – The Month of the Holy Rosary

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary and to mark the month the Parish will pray the Rosary together in the Church twenty minutes before the weekday Mass each day.

Today is the start of the month, so our recitation of the Rosary will begin before Mass and continue on each weekday throughout the month, why not come and join us.
