The Season of Lent, 2014
Wednesday 5th March 2014 is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of the Season of Lent.
This special season gives us the opportunity to practice our faith with new enthusiasm. The period of forty days is a chance to renew ourselves and encourage one another.
The following events will take place during Lent:
Shrove Tuesday 4th March
Why not prepare for Lent with a ‘Pancake Party’ at home with friends and family.
Ash Wednesday 5th March
Day of Fasting and Abstinence
Mass with the distribution of Ashes at 10.00am at Our Lady of Lourdes and at 12.00 noon and 7.00pm at St. Teilo’s.
Stations of the Cross
Every Wednesday morning during Lent at 9.30am at Our Lady of Lourdes, every Friday at 9.30am at St. Teilo’s and every Sunday at 6.00pm at St. Teilo’s.
Beginning on Thursday 6th March, the Rosary will be recited before weekday Masses, beginning about fifteen minutes before the celebration of Mass begins.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Every Saturday after 9.30am Mass at St. Teilo’s and every Saturday before 6.00pm Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Each Wednesday during Lent, from 7.00pm to 8.00pm, churches throughout the Archdiocese of Cardiff will be open for the faithful to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of an initiative called ‘The Light is ON for You!’
St. Teilo’s is taking part in this initiative and the church will be open from 7.00pm to 8.00pm for Confession and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Tuesdays between 10.30am and 8.00pm at St. Teilo’s and during Wednesday’s celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
CAFOD Family Fast Day
Friday 14th March. A collection will be made at all Masses on the weekend of Sunday 16th March.

Holy Week and the Easter Triduum
Holy Week begins on Sunday 13th April with Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion.
The Easter Triduum, the ‘Three Days’ in which we enter fully into the mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus, begins with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday 17th April.
