The Feast Days of St. Teilo and Our Lady of Lourdes
The Feast Days of both St. Teilo and Our Lady of Lourdes will be celebrated soon. We will be celebrating both of these Feast Days in the parish.
To mark the Feast Day of St. Teilo, we have been invited by the Dean of Llandaff Cathedral, the Very Rev. Gerwyn Capon, to celebrate Mass at Llandaff Cathedral at 6.00pm on Sunday 8th February, the eve of the Feast of St. Teilo. The preacher at the Mass will be the Rt. Rev. Paul Stonham OSB, Abbot of Belmont.
The relic of St. Teilo is preserved in a beautiful casket near the High Altar. Hopefully as many of us as possible will go to the Cathedral for this Mass. We are so grateful to the Dean and his colleagues for this opportunity to celebrate Mass in the presence of the relic of our Patron Saint.
Please note that there will be no evening Mass at St. Teilo’s, Whitchurch on Sunday 8th February.
The actual Feast Day of St. Teilo will be celebrated on Monday 9th February. Mass will be at 10.00am at St. Teilo’s. There will be hymns and prayers at the statue of St. Teilo, to commend our families, people and parish community to the intercession of St. Teilo.

Wednesday 11th February is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Every year, 11th February is marked as World Day of the Sick, an observation that was introduced by St. Pope John Paul II, and celebrated for the first time on 11th February 1993.
It is celebrated every year on the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes, and for all believers seeks to be “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering.” (From St. John Paul II’s message for World Day of the Sick in 1993.)
To mark the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes, and to mark World Day of the Sick, we will celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes at 7.00pm on Wednesday 11th February. Mass will be offered for all of the sick and housebound, for carers, doctors and for nurses. This World Day of the Sick is a day to pray before Our Lady of Lourdes under her title of ‘Health of the Sick’.
